All Saints, Roos

‘...at the very core of our village is a strong

community feeling.’

All Saints church is in a rural setting 4 miles  north west of Withernsea and is the centre of  worship for a warm and welcoming group of  Christians. The church has close links with  Roos Primary School and is one of the leading  churches for bellringing in the Holderness  area. The 13th century All Saints church is steeped  in history. The church is believed to have been given to Kirkham Priory in 1232 by the Magna Carta Baron, Robert de Ros who gave his name to the village. The mausoleum for the Sykes  family dating back to 1784 can also be found  in the church grounds.  In 1301 the Rector  Robert Corbridge was absent from the church  on study leave for over 13 years. Luckily our  current priest visits the church far more  frequently. A very warm welcome awaits all  who join us for worship on Sunday, just  follow the sound of the bells.
